A DRIVER who killed two people in a horror smash has admitted causing serious injury to two others.

He also accepted he caused serious injury to another man.

When Reilly appeared before Preston Crown Court yesterday he admitted two further charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving as well as two counts of causing death by driving while unlicensed or disqualified.

At a previous hearing, barristers acting on behalf of Reilly, of Floyd Road, Ribbleton, admitted he had been driving dangerously before the fatal smash in Hyndburn Road.

Nicola Gatto told the court: β€œHe left a caravan site and went to a nearby public house and had a drink. He became the driver of the vehicle. He went through a red light that had been on red for eight seconds.”

The smash happened around 11.30pm on October 10 as Rafique, 43, and Aurang Zeb, 42, who was driving a Vauxhall Vectra, made their way north across the busy junction towards the Asda supermarket. The Mercedes, which did not belong to Reilly, was travelling west along Hyndburn Road and crashed into the pair. They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The force of the crash resulted in one car flipping on to its roof and the other in some trees. A traffic light was knocked down and debris and barriers lay in the middle of the road.

Reilly was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on March 6.
