A TEENAGE girl is fundraising to save her cat’s life after it was targeted in a sickening attack.

Clitheroe Royal Grammar student, Muniza Mehrban, 17, said she needed to collect between £1,500 and £2,000 for an operation on elderly cat Tiddles after he was repeatedly kicked and left for dead in a gutter.

The cat was discovered badly injured on Tuesday in Royds Avenue outside Hollins Technology College, Muniza’s former school.

By chance it was found by a teacher who took Tiddles to a vet in Accrington and left a message for Muniza at her family’s home that her cat had been attacked.

Now the pet is in constant pain, cannot stand and has to have an expensive operation to repair his pelvis.

Muniza says that when the vet was examining Tiddles, he said it was clear that he had been attacked, and not run over.

Muniza, who lives off Manchester Road in Baxenden, said: “I can’t believe anyone could do this to him.

"It was so upsetting when I heard what had happened.

"I’m determined not to have him put down and as well as raising money to save him, I want to raise awareness of this kind of animal cruelty.

“I’ve been speaking to a charity called the South Ribble Pet Cats Club and they do incredible work helping animals who need expensive surgery.

"Any money I raise over my target for Tiddles will be donated to them.

"I would also like to say a big thank you to Karen and all the nurses at Mearley Vets.”

The pets charity has already pledged a donation towards Muniza’s fundraising bid and both Clitheroe Royal Grammar School and Hollins Technology College have said they will host fundraising events.

A spokeswoman for the RSPCA said they were investigating the incident.

She said: ”We were contacted about this incident and one of our animal collection officers (ACOs) attended.

"We'd now like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious. To contact the RSPCA call 0300 1234 999.

Anyone who would like to make a donation is asked to contact 07921 480 108.
