A CRAFTER has embarked on a project to help people suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s.

Joyce Clough is appealing for help across Hyndburn for people who have got dolls lying around the house unused or in storage.

Ms Clough, from Oswaldtwistle, is then creating hand knitted outfits before passing them on to care homes.

She said “I am looking for dolls in good condition, from smoke-free environments and are about 12 inches in height.

“These dolls can act as a comforter to people with Alzheimer’s and Dementia and this is something I would love to provide for them”.

She is a regular member of the Civic Arts Centre Wednesday Craft club and her appeal on Facebook had caught the eye of the staff.

Lauren Stirzaker, the events manager at the centre said “I was so touched to read about what Joyce was doing and I wanted to support the project in any way we could.

“We are more than happy to collect donations at the Civic Theatre and pass them on to Joyce."

Donations can be dropped off at The Civic Arts Centre in Union Road or collection can be arranged by contacting peppermintfriends@outlook.com.

The Craft Club runs at the Civic on Wednesdays from 10am – 12pm with a £2 donation fee. Call 01254 398319 for more information.
