COUNCILLORS in Hyndburn have supported transport expansion plans in the North.
David Brown, chief executive of Transport North, spoke to councillors to get their thoughts about plans for the region.
The talks came as he looked to gauge support for a sub-national transport body especially for the north.
He said talks will be held by the Government later this year about the plans.
Ideas raised by councillors regarding transport improvements in the borough included an expansion of the M65 and improvements to rail networks such as the Todmorden Curve.
Cllr Miles Parkinson, leader of Hyndburn Council, said: “It’s important for Hyndburn, Lancashire and the North to improve transport links to the area.
“There are many good positive ideas for the area.
“It will help bring more people to see this beautiful part of the world.”
