A 39-YEAR-OLD man arrested for begging told police he was in receipt of benefits, was not homeless and wanted the money to buy furniture.
Paul Gardiner, of Warwick Close, Church, pleaded guilty to begging in Railway Road, Blackburn.
He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £20 victim surcharge.
