A THREE-YEAR-OLD and a three-month-old have been discharged from Royal Blackburn Hospital after their family home caught fire in Church.

Firefighters from Hyndburn said they spent two hours tackling a blaze in a kitchen in Sussex Close, Church, at 1.50am.

Police said there were two parents and two children inside the house but they managed to flee to safety before the emergency services arrived.

Inspector Michael Johnson said: "The three-year-old and three-month-old have now been discharged from hospital.

"The family had managed to get out of the building and were cared for by paramedics at the scene.

"They were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital for smoke inhalation but mainly as a precaution.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation but we believe the fire was accidental.

"If anyone has any information about this incident they should call the police on 101."
