A UNIFORM design manager at Altham-based Simon Jersey is up for Business Women of the Year at the Be Inspired Business Awards.
Helen Harker, who has spent over 25 years designing kit for giants including Emirates Airlines, Argos, and Hertz, was nominated for this year's awards following her work in the last 12 months.
Last year, it was her designs that landed the company its biggest contract in its history — a multi-million pound deal to supply Team GB with formal suiting and paradewear for the closing ceremony of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
She said: "I’ve had a fantastic career with Simon Jersey but last year was really special and it’s great to be shortlisted for the award. I know I’m up against some tough competition and wish everyone shortlisted for the BIBAs good luck.”
Simon Jersey's managing director, James Saunders, said: "Helen’s designs are always central to us winning new contracts and we’re thrilled that the BIBAs judges have also recognised her contribution to our success. We’re all hoping that she’ll go on to win the award at the ceremony in September.”
After a three stage BIBA short-listing process, which has included the judges visiting her at work in Altham, Helen will discover whether she has won at the awards ceremony at Blackpool Tower on 11th September.
