POLICE are appealing for information after a cyclist was knocked off his bike.

A white vehicle collided with the 52-year-old man at around 6.30pm on Thursday along Haslingden Old Road, Oswaldtwistle near De Nero’s restaurant.

The vehicle stopped a short distance away until the cyclist stood up, and was then seen driving off in the direction of Haslingden.

The cyclist was treated in the back of the ambulance at the scene for cuts and bruises to the legs.

PC Mike Smith of the Eastern Road Policing Unit said: “This could have potentially been a very serious accident and the cyclist is lucky to have walked away with minor injuries.

“I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision or who saw a white vehicle in the area at around this time to get in touch. I would also appeal to the driver themselves to come forward and speak to us.”
