RESIDENTS have been urged to be a good neighbour this Christmas and check that their elderly friends are warm and well.
Blackburn with Darwen and East Lancashire Clinical Commission Group leaders have asked people to spare a thought for others during the festive period.
Older people can become lonely and isolated in the winter months and the cold weather can have a serious impact on their health.
Dr Phil Huxley, a lead GP within Pennine Lancashire, said:“Looking in on an elderly neighbour can make a huge difference, helping to prevent loneliness and making sure they are safe. It is the perfect opportunity to check their house is warm and they have enough food in to see them through a spell of bad weather.
