BLOOD donors are being urgently sought in Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley after health chiefs found stocks diminished after the festive period.

East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has joined forces with NHS Blood and Transplant to support the appeal for donors to come forward. All blood types are needed, but particularly O Groups to maintain life saving supplies.

Nadine Eaton, head of national campaigns for NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “Blood stocks have fallen over the festive period and iIt’s vital that we increase our stocks now so we can continue to meet the needs of patients. Please make an appointment today and help ensure that patients get the transfusions they need over the coming weeks.”

Sessions will be at King George’s Hall in Blackburn on January 30 and February 19, West Bradford Village Hall on February 4, and Hippings Vale Community Centre in Oswaldtwistle on February 12.
