A FIRE in an electrical sub-station caused a power cut earlier today.
Firefighters were called by engineers to the Prinny Hill electrical substation, Haslingden, at about 12.30am today.
An electrical fault had sparked the small fire which caused plastic wiring casing to give off noxious smoke and affected a number of properties in Haslingden and Helmshore.
Fire crews and engineers spent a couple of hours at the scene trying to find the cause of the fault.
A mobile generator was drafted in by United Utilities to bring back power to the affected properties.
