LANCASHIRE County Council chiefs have crumbled under pressure to use the term 'gingerbread man' on school menus.

The description 'gingerbread person' had been used on the Lancashire School Meals Service’s autumn/winter weekly menu.

But some parents complained it was too politically correct.

A Lancashire County Council spokesperson said: “It appears the use of a politically correct term was intended by staff to amuse rather than offend, but clearly this has been lost in translation.”

Thank God for common-sense. This kind of PC nonsense is truly frightening.

Well done the parents who complained.

LCC can try and "laugh" this incident off but we all know where they were going with it.

Snowpeople rather than snowman would have been next on their hitlist.

Can it not be made public who specifically at LCC came up with the idea?

Surely the PC brigadier at LCC should have issued an edict that gingerbread men are now to be referred to as gingerbread androgenous entity with a humanoid shape.
.
Political correctness has gone too far and this, no matter how minor it appears, just winds common-sense people ie us East Lancastrians up too much.

Clearly the shape of the gingerbread MAN is based on a man's shape - just like the icon that represents gents on the loo sign!! and the one in the photo is also wearing a bow tie!
