A PENDLE school is hoping to reduce its carbon footprint with the introduction of a solar panel system.
Coates Lane Primary School, in Barnoldswick, has submitted a planning application for a state-of-the art solar photovoltaic (PV) system after receiving a grant to fund the project.
The school, which caters for children between five and 11 years of age, is keen to promote awareness about environmental issues and use the solar PV system on-site to generate electricity.
As part of the system, 24 tilted solar panels will be installed on the flat roof, which has good solar access and is not currently used for anything else.
They will be laid out in four rows and catch the sunlight, which will hopefully provide enough energy to light-up the school.
