A MAN seriously injured after being hit by a car has been moved from critical care after showing signs of improvement.
Jamie Banks, of Hampden Avenue, Darwen, seriously injured his head and leg after he was struck as he crossed Bolton Road outside the Spinners pub on Friday night.
The 23-year-old underwent three hours of surgery to remove a blood clot on the brain and has also had an operation on fractures to his leg.
He remains unconscious.
His sister Natalie said: “He might not have woken up today, but we’ve taken some big steps forward.
“He’s now out of critical care and in high dependency on the neurological ward where he is being well looked after.
"He’s completely off all the monitors now and is much more settled after the op on his leg.”
