THE Blackburn and Darwen Brass Band is set to share its tour of Switzerland with a concert this month.

The band, which has been going since 1840, will share the music, culture, history and traditions it picked up while in Switzerland.

The free concert will take place at Thwaites Empire Theatre on Friday, September 22, from 7.30pm.

Michael Berry, chairman of The Blackburn Empire said: "We are delighted to be hosting this alpine extravaganza at the theatre and, as tickets are free, it is bound to be a full house, so we would encourage people to reserve their tickets either online or through the booking office soon."

Alan Thomas from Blackburn with Darwen Band said: "The band have just returned from the most amazing trip to Switzerland.

"We played at absolutely stunning locations including one up a very high mountain.

"We are wondering if we are now the highest performing brass band in the world?

"We can't wait to share some of the music and magic of this magnificent country."
