A 46-HOME development which will replace an ‘eyesore’ in Darwen should be finished by next May.
The demolition of the former Elizabeth House, which has become a target for vandalism in the past couple of years, has begun to make way for the £5.2million project led by Together Housing.
Demolition is expected to last four to six weeks.
Darwen MP Jake Berry was among the guests to see the start of the transformation this week.
He said: “I’m really pleased to see the start of redevelopment of this important site in the centre of Darwen.
“It’s a great example of the regeneration of a brownfield site for new homes rather than using our countryside.
"I’m looking forward to visiting the new development.”
