DARWEN’S glittering Christmas Lights will be switched on by X Factor’s Max Stone this Saturday.

Max, who made it to the final 10 acts on the X Factor and is replacing Union J in the Darwen event, will be giving a performance.

He will treat the crowd to some of his songs from the show before switching the Christmas lights.

Josh Daniels, also from this year’s X Factor, will also be performing on the night.

The Darwen lights switch on take place in the town centre square.

The show will begin at 4pm with the lights being switched on at 7pm.

Cllr Stephanie Brookfield said: “I am a big X Factor fan and I am thrilled to welcome both Max Stone and Josh Daniels to Darwen.

“Max is a fantastic performer and Josh really captured the nation’s hearts with his audition song.

“I hope everyone will give them a warm welcome.

“The Darwen Christmas Lights switch on is a great event and it is always a great start to the festive season.”

Union J announced earlier this month that they were not going to be performing after the council cancelled the contract with only three members of the band available.
