Karl Wickers, 26, has been jailed for 20 months after barging into the cubicle and hitting Ms Price repeatedly with a bottle.

Earlier that evening, Ms Price had asked Wickers’ girlfriend, Christina Strickson, about their appearance on the ITV1 show – comments that angered Miss Strickson because she did not want to talk about the show.

A verbal and physical fight broke out between the women in the toilets and Ms Price retreated into a cubicle.

Wickers, of Lloyd Street, Darwen, then barged into the ladies’ toilets and hit Ms Price four or five times on the back of her head with the bottle.

As she turned, he forced the bottle into her face, causing a black eye.

Reading her victim impact statement to the court, Ms Price sobbed as she said: “This has affected my life in so many ways.

“I am still shocked that someone could be so violent towards me.

“It has affected my confidence. At first, the panic attacks were regular and daily, and took me by surprise. I didn’t know how to cope with them.

“For about a year after the assault, I didn’t want to leave the house. This affected my daughter, who was two at the time. I was depressed and I didn’t feel myself.

“The worst thing is not the black eye or the tooth. It was sitting with my daughter as she looked at my face and kissed my face, and asked ‘what have you done?’”

Wickers pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and admitted he had an anger management problem.

He said he had seen a scuffle between the women and, when he went into the toilets, he saw his partner bleeding and saying she had been hit, but he accepted he misread the situation and attacked Ms Price in a “split-second decision”.

Judge Robert Altham, sentencing, said: “You took advantage of the fact she was in a vulnerable position and you thumped her.

“You hit her repeatedly to the most vulnerable part of her body, namely her head. You had a bottle and you used it to strike her. You grabbed her around her neck leaving marks.”

Judge Altham also made a five-year restraining order for Wickers to keep away from Ms Price.
