A 32-YEAR-OLD man armed himself with a knife after being attacked in his girlfriend’s house by another man.

Blackburn magistrates heard as Martin Andrew Hacking emerged from the kitchen holding the knife shouting “I’m going to kill you” police entered the room.

Hacking, of Hazel Avenue, Darwen, pleaded guilty to affray and was remanded on bail until November 23 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said when police arrived at an address in Greenway Street there were two men and a female in the house and all three were heavily intoxicated.

Gareth Price, defending, said Hacking was at his girlfriend’s house when the second man turned up and assaulted him.

“When he picked up the knife my client didn’t know the police had been called,” said Mr Price. “His aim was merely to frighten the other man to get him to leave. Once he realised the police were inside he put the knife down and put his hands on his head.”
