THE fourth annual celebration evening of Darwen Aldridge Community Academy celebrated the academic achievements of the school’s pupils.

Certificates and prizes were handed out to pupils from all school years, with GCSE certificates from last year’s leaving class also given out.

Principal Brendan Loughran said: “In four successive years the academic outcomes of students at GCSE have improved, setting new records every year.

“In 2012, by every single measure of success, our students achieved the best results we have ever seen and in part due to this, we are regarded not only as an improving school, but as one of the best schools in the North West of England.

“It is undoubtedly the students who have made the Academy a success and the support of parents in helping us to help them, as always, is very much appreciated.”

In keeping with the school’s policy of promoting entrepreneurship, guest speaker was Ian Brown, of Blackburn wallpaper firm Graham & Brown.
