A SEX offender from Burnley is being hunted by police.

Dilshad Miah, 32, was given a suspended sentence of 19 days in jail after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in November.

Miah, who was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register until December 2020, is wanted after failing to notify Lancashire police of a change in his address.

As well as having links to Burnley, it is believed Miah could be in the Rochdale or Manchester.

DC Andrew Ashworth appealed for anybody with information about his current whereabouts to come forward.

He said: “Miah is a registered sex offender who has failed to notify the authorities of his whereabouts. If anybody knows where he is currently or has been in contact with him recently then I would urge them to contact police.

“Sex offenders are managed in the community by police and partners, a system which aims to prevent them from committing further offences.

“If they do not comply with the obligations of their licence or notification requirements, then we will take positive action to locate them, as we are doing in this case.”

Miah is described as being around 5ft tall, of proportionate build with brown eyes and short dark hair.

Anybody with any information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111 or online at www. crimestoppers-uk.org.
