A POLICE community support officer has appeared in court charged with webcam sex offences allegedly involving a 12-year-old girl and internet porn relating to young girls.
Steven Kenneth Evans, 23, of Bolton Road, Abbey Village, who is stationed in Chorley, is charged with engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a 12-year-old girl and inciting the same girl to engage in sexual activity by touching herself in a sexual way.
The offences are alleged to have been committed via web cameras at his home in Abbey Village and the girl’s home in Warwickshire.
Evans is also charged with 16 offences of downloading indecent photographs and video clips of female children performing sex acts.
Evans appeared before Blackburn magistrates where the case was directed to Preston Crown Court.
It is alleged that Evans befriended the girl through the internet and conducted conversations with her via a webcam, which led to a complaint to police and the seizing of computer equipment.
Evans was remanded on bail for the preparation of committal papers.
A Lancashire police spokesman said that Evans had resigned from the force.
