A BUTCHER from Chorley is celebrating after picking up an award for his black pudding.
Browns Butchers from the town triumphed at the BPEX butcher roadshow and product evaluation event, at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton.
Almost 300 products were entered into the event, with twelve picked as category champions on the night.
Browns were awarded the accolade for their ‘Black and White Roulade’ in the black pudding category.
John Brown of Browns Butchers said he was delighted with their success.
He said: “We’re really very pleased. We’ve been making the ‘Black and White Roulade’, which is a mixture of black and white pudding, for a few years now and it is popular with customers. It is quite a unique product – it looks rather like a Swiss roll – which we experimented with for some time to get right, and now we have as the judges clearly agree.”
