4th June 2018: Signed golfing apparel by Tommy Fleetwood and the chance to win a car are just some of the prizes up for grabs at a charity golf event set to take place at Pleasington Golf Club this September to raise funds for Rosemere Cancer Foundation.
Entry to the four player team, 18-hole competition on Thursday, 6th September, has just opened but already, organiser Roger Davies, who works as a national education manager for the Football Association (FA), has almost filled all slots.
A member of the golf club, Roger, of Balderstone, is staging the event for Rosemere Cancer Foundation following the successful treatment of his partner, Heather Collier, at Rosemere Cancer Centre, Lancashire and South Cumbria’s regional specialist cancer treatment centre based at the Royal Preston Hospital. Heather, who works as cabin crew for holiday firm Tui, has now been given the all clear after suffering cervical cancer.
The charity is also being supported this year by both Pleasington Golf Club’s Men’s and Lady Captains, Rob Allen and Nicky Robinson. They chose it because a number of players have also recently been or are currently being treated at Rosemere Cancer Centre.
Roger said: “We are hoping for a great day that will raise a lot of money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation to help it fund projects to bring world class treatments and services to local cancer patients.”
The cost of entering a team is £460, which includes a pre competition lunch, on course refreshments, golfers’ gift set and a post competition three-course dinner hosted by former Rock FM DJ Adam Catterall, who now works as a presenter on TalkSPORT. Comedian and impressionist Al Foran is being flown in from Dublin to provide the entertainment and there will also be a raffle and auction.
For further information and to enter, contact the club via telephone on 01254 202177 or via its website. Roger has also set up a Just Giving page for donations at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rogerdavies-1975
