Staff at Burnley based online fashion retailer Boohoo.com received a boost recently when they received a visit from Burnley FC first team players Michael Keane and George Boyd.

 

The Premier League stars called in to answer questions around healthy lifestyles, as part of Burnley FC in the Community’s BoohooMAN Healthy Weight Management Programme.

 

The project, for which BoohooMAN has recently become a Patron, see’s participants undertake fitness testing and exercise classes as well as receiving general dietary advice with the view to them becoming fitter and healthier.

 

As part of BoohooMAN’s patronage, Burnley FC in the Community’s health team are delivering a specific course for Boohoo employees, which is held around the shift pattern of the warehouse staff at the Widow Hill site.

 

Ryan Bradley, Business Development Executive at Burnley FC in the Community said: “The player visit was just the latest part of our partnership with Boohoo, which will see their staff really benefit from a tailored programme that’s fits around the working day. We started sign-ups for the Boohoo staff programme a couple of weeks ago and to date we have nearly 50 individuals attending sessions at Turf Moor, which is a great response.”

 

Burnley FC in the Community Health Ambassador George Boyd and England International Michael Keane visited staff to talk about healthy eating and the exercise routine required to be a Premier League footballer, it also gave staff the opportunity to hear first-hand from high profile role models how they can achieve their goals.

As we continue to grow our workforce our facilities also continue to grow and we will soon see two onsite gyms become available for all staff as well as improved restaurant and break areas.”

Since the Healthy Weight Management programme launched in 2015 it has engaged over 150 males, who have lost over 100 stone in weight! Hydration levels have increased on average by 12% per individual and one individual lost 1st 9lbs during the 12-week programme, dropping their body fat by 12%.

 

On average individuals reduce visceral fat levels by 4.5 which can result in an individual starting with ‘bad’ levels of visceral fat to finishing in the ‘excellent/healthy’ range and 85% of individuals on the programme saw an improvement to their fitness levels after completion.

 

BoohooMAN have committed £10,000 per year to the programme as a Patron for the next 3 seasons, which will not only allow Boohoo staff to access shift friendly sessions but will fund four public cohorts a year.
