Acting on behalf of Pendle Projects Limited the Burnley office of Trevor Dawson report that the first unit within the proposed Pendle Court development at Junction 13 of the M65 has been sold to William Turner & Son Limited.

William Turner is a leading UK manufacturer specialising in premium quality ties and accessories for schoolwear, club and corporate markets.

The company will be relocating from their existing facility in Colne when the new property is completed in October of this year.

Daniel Turner of William Turner comments

“We are proud of our reputation as a leading U.K. Manufacturer of school ties and are proud to employ 35 people locally.

We are delighted to be moving to our our own brand new factory in Nelson, from where we plan to increase the quantity and range of ties we manufacture”

The development totalling 22,000 sq.ft. will be commenced in March and as well as the 10,000 sq.ft. sale to William Turner & Sons. The remaining 12,000 sq.ft. has been sold to a pension fund for investment purposes with the two remaining units each of 6,000 sq.ft. being available on a leasehold basis.

The development is being undertaken by Pendle Projects based in Blacko who have been involved in many commercial schemes in the Lancashire and Yorkshire area.

This is however Pendle Projects first speculative scheme along the M65 corridor and Director, Mark Taylforth comments

‘’We have been successfully developing industrial and commercial units in North and West Yorkshire for some time but never had a suitable site in East Lancashire. This site in Pendle, very close to the Motorway junction is perfect for an industrial scheme and we are delighted to have found suitable occupiers for the proposed scheme so quickly. The whole of phase 1 is now pre-sold and we are looking ahead to a possible phase 2.”

Michael Cavannagh from the retained agents Trevor Dawson comments

“The development by Pendle Projects is a sign of the confidence in the M65 corridor and Pendle in particular. The lack of development in the Pendle area over the last few years has led to a pent up demand for industrial stock. The new Pendle Court development is already proving to be of great interest the market locally and more regionally”.
