American TV star Jesse McClure, from hit shows Storage Hunters and Storage Hunters UK, is encouraging young fans to get behind his adopted UK ‘soccer' club, Accrington Stanley.

Throughout February accompanied under-12s will receive a free limited edition talking Jess McClure doll worth £10 when they watch home games for free at the Wham Stadium. Sporting an Accrington Stanley-badged shirt under his trademark leather jacket, the plush doll speaks five phrases including "Accrington Stanley, the club that wouldn't die!" and "Fight on Accy Stanley, never say die!"

Currently vying for promotion in League 2, and with games in hand on the teams above them, there is a real buzz about Stanley's prospects this season. This latest promotion aims to attract a new generation of young fans to watch live football at the revitalised club.

Vouchers giving free entry to home games for all under-12s (when accompanied by a paying adult) have gone out to every primary school in Hyndburn. Anyone presenting the voucher when buying or using pre-bought tickets at the ground on match days will also receive the free limited edition Accrington Stanley talking Jesse doll.

The Californian star has taken the plucky Lancashire club to heart since working in Britain. As well as backing club fundraisers such as a crossbar challenge, he has promoted Stanley on Sky Sports' popular Saturday morning show Soccer AM and taken on fans in the new FIFA 16 computer game, playing as part of a ‘virtual' Accrington Stanley squad.

"I've gotta be honest, before I came to the UK I'd never even heard of Accrington Stanley," said Jesse, currently in the UK to film a new top secret TV project.

"But since working over here I've become a big fan. It's my nature to side with the underdog and I love everything about the club ─ its fantastic history, the way it's fought against the odds to survive, and most of all its army of fans. That's one army I'm happy to enlist in!"

Jesse, who is also brand ambassador for Stanley's shirt sponsor PlasticBoxShop, added: "The limited edition Jesse doll is awesome and I'm so proud my ‘mini-me' is wearing the Stanley badge. I hope every kid in the area who loves soccer and wants to support their local team will want one, and now they can get one for free."

As well as distribution through local schools, the promotional vouchers are available from the club and its new shop in Accrington Market Hall, where the limited edition doll is also on sale for £10. The vouchers are valid until February 29th, meaning they can be used at any of four home games, including two during half-term week.
