Whalley & District Lions Club has reformed after folding in 2000. Bolton and Accrington Lions have attended recent meetings to support the group to develop. Along with Ian Clare, the North West Lion Membership Officer.
Gillian Darbyshire has agreed to be the first President with Margaret Twist as Secretary and Veronica Brown as Treasurer. The group has many new active members of the community that have been involved with Whalley Chamber of Trade, Pickwick, Whalley Market, Whalley Live Festival to mention a few of the groups supported and developed by the group members.
The group are not new to fundraising and developing events.
The group is well on it's way to accepting 20 new members and friends which will support them in becoming a recognised Independent Lions Charter.
The Lions is one of the largest International Voluntary Humanitarian Groups in the world. The aim of the Lions locally is to Serve the Community.
Please get in touch via Facebook or come to a meeting held in the Delacy Arms, Whalley, 7.30pm second Monday of each month. If you would like to get involved or have a need that you feel the Lions could help with.
