Chamber member,Bury based accountants & business advisers, Horsfield & Smith, recently held a Cyber Security Seminar at the Red Hall Hotel, Bury. The event attracted a wealth of businesses from the Bury area who are aware of the new government scheme and wanted to find out how Horsfield & Smith could help their business become Cyber Essentials compliant and encourage their business to grow.

David Reynolds from the International Association of Accountants Innovation & Technology Consultants (IAAITC) commented: “Businesses in Bury seem to be thinking ahead about how they can leverage IT as we come out of recession to grow their business. It is good to see that not only do they understand some of the challenges they will face around cyber security but are prepared to do something about it.”

“Customers are increasingly concerned about the amount of their personal data that is held by retailers, particularly in the online environment. Businesses in Bury can see that the Cyber Essentials Scheme, recently launched by HMG, is an effective way of differentiating their business and showing their customers that they are taking steps to protect their data.”

Jane Hawarden, Marketing Co-Ordinator at Horsfield & Smith commented: “All the delegates enjoyed the event and found it very interesting. Our aim is to help businesses in Bury to distinguish themselves from others and show how we can support them with cyber security. We will be running another seminar on this subject in the New Year, the details of which will appear on the events page of our website soon.”
