Businesses struggling to cope with employment tribunals are urged to attend a seminar led by employment law experts.

In the last six years the average compensation awarded for unfair dismissal has risen by 25 per cent and business owners can now face a bill of up to £76,574 for falling foul of employment law.

With the Government expected to announce a major review of employment tribunal fees for workers, the number of claims could also rise, causing more businesses to buckle under the pressure.

Michael Shroot, head of employment law at Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall, believes some businesses could face financial issues if they don’t take action.

He explained: “Business owners need to think ahead, if they don’t get their legal position correct, each employee could potentially cost them money.

“Those who make mistakes when dealing with employees or letting staff go will face hefty compensation claims. This is often an unnecessary strain on business with crippling consequences.”

To help guide business owners through this complex area of law, Woodcocks Haworth and Nuttall is hosting a practical seminar on the legal issues faced by employers in relation to dismissal, employee contracts and disciplinary procedures.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 27 from 3.00pm at The Village Hotel, Waterfold Business Park, Bury. To book your free place contact Stacey McCann on 0161 761 4611 or email Stacey.mccann@whnsolicitors.co.uk
