AN eight-year-old with cerebral palsy who needs a life-changing operation in America has made his own poignant video appeal for help.

Brave little Theo Bishop, who attends Balladen Primary School, is leading the charge to raise the £45,000 he needs for the Stateside surgery.

His parents have launched a new website - www.theosbigleap.org.uk - to promote the youngster’s crusade.

And Theo, of Fallbarn Crescent, Rawtenstall, has fronted his own film clip to encourage fundraising ideas and donations.

In the video, he says: “When I was 14-months old I was diagnosed with cerebral palsy but it only affects my legs.

“But with your help I may be able to have an operation which will help me to walk unaided, play with my friends and and join in lots more activities.”

Currently the football-mad youngster gets around using a frame and a wheelchair but he desperately wants to get about on his own two feet.

He has been shortlisted for selective dorsal rhiztomy, an operation which will help to restore his balance and perhaps one day soon enjoy a kickabout.

Battling Theo has already enlisted the support of generous youngsters at All Saints RC High in Rawtenstall.

When they heard about his plight, students decided to donate the proceeds from a non-uniform day at the Haslingden Road school to the appeal.

Other fundraisers including a sponsored skydive, a non-stop zumba marathon and a sportsman’s dinner have also been pencilled in by his parents Mandy and Stuart.

People can also call Mandy on 07890 374 028 with any fundaising ideas or possible events.
