BURNLEY Leisure was found to offer ‘impressive, modern and innovative facilities’ following a recent review.

A Burnley Council Scrutiny Committee report concluded the trust’s centres across the borough are well run and organised.

The trust, which employs more than 100 people, provides sports and leisure facilities and run programmes to encourage more people to stay active.

It also highlighted the need to continue to market and promote the services to attract more members, particularly in light of the increased challenge from private gyms.

Gerard Vinton, the charities chief executive, said: “We’re grateful for the work carried out by the scrutiny review group.

“They found Burnley Leisure offers state-of-the-art equipment and excellent facilities, backed up by knowledgeable and friendly staff.

“It’s also very useful for someone to come in and cast a critical eye over what we’re doing as part of our work to continually improve the development of our services and facilities.”

The full report is set to be considered by the borough council’s executive members at a meeting on Monday, March 27, 6.30pm.
