A 20-YEAR-OLD man who died after his car collided head-on with a taxi in Burnley has been named by police.
Shane Maughan of St Helens, Merseyside, was driving a silver Ford Mondeo which collided with a black cab on Manchester Road.
Eyewitnesses said the Mondeo was travelling down the hill from the Rossendale Road junction and the taxi was going up the hill.
Two women and a second man, all from Burnley, also suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Sgt Malcolm Bell from the Road Policing Unit said: “This was a tragic incident which has cost a young man his life and my thoughts remain with his family and friends. Our investigations are continuing and I would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us.
"I am especially keen to speak to any drivers who may have been stationary in their vehicles at the traffic lights on Manchester Road and who saw the Mondeo.”
