CHILDREN at primary schools in Burnley received lessons on how to look after their teeth.

Staff from Ravat and Ray Dental Care visited primary schools to speak to young children about the importance of brushing their teeth as part of National Smile Month.

Practice manager Sharon Fletcher dressed as a giant toothbrush to help spread the message to youngsters at Briercliffe Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School.

She said: “We went into schools to help spread the message about oral health, with things like how to brush your teeth and how to keep them clean and in good health.

“A couple of us went into the schools and I dressed up as a giant toothbrush. It’s important to make the message fun so that the children enjoy it and understand the message we are trying to get across.”

The visits last week were so popular that a further visit to Cherry Fold Primary School has now been arranged.

Mrs Fletcher said: “Dental hygiene and looking after your teeth is a very important health message. “It’s better to speak to the children at an early age and try and get them to understand the important of brushing your teeth.

“The visits seemed to go down very well. The children enjoyed them and hopefully they have understood the message.”
