TWO Burnley landlords have been prosecuted after they failed to meet legal standards.
Aspire Homelettings Limited, of Lyndhurst Road, was ordered to pay £1,765 after it failed to comply with improvement notices issued by Burnley Council’s housing team. The firm failed to make repairs to a damaged front door, blocked drains, exposed pipework and overflowing waste pipes.
Another Burnley landlord, Kenneth Greenwood, was ordered to pay £275 after he failed to comply with the condit-ions of his selective licence.
Coun Howard Baker, the council’s executive member for housing and environment, said: “We work closely with landlords across the whole of Burnley to ensure our residents can live in housing that is fit for habitation. Everyone has the right to live in a safe and dry home.
“The majority of landlords take their duties very seriously.
“However, there are the exceptions who think it is acceptable to have people living in homes that are unsafe or poorly managed.”
