Haslingden refrigeration company proposes new site for car park
5:17pm Friday 8th February 2013 in News
A HASLINGDEN firm’s plans for a new 92-vehicle car park have been re-submitted to Rossendale Council.
Solomon Commercials wanted to construct a new site for its vehicles in Holden Vale Mill Pond, off Kingsway, in September last year, but campaigners convinced them to review the location.
The new application proposes land off Manchester Road, to the east of Holme Lane, as a base for the refrigeration company’s fleet of lorries.
If approved, the car park would be built on former agricultural land, with a new access point created on Manchester Road.
Solomon Commercials currently employs 285 people and hopes to create 45 new jobs in the next 18 months.
In a supporting planning statement, the company says: “It will be a ‘low level development’, with only a small hut located on the site, and the rest being open land with perimeter fencing.
“This storage site will safeguard Solomon’s place in the Valley over the coming years and facilitate additional growth through its existing factory base.”
