Call for explanation over Nelson remembrance parade

A NELSON resident has asked local councillors about why the town’s parade during the Remembrance Sunday service did not go through the newly refurbished town centre.

The resident told councillors at a meeting on Monday that she had been speaking to a veteran who said the parade should go through the centre.

She also said that the service should include elements from different faiths and religions to make it more inclusive from Nelson.

Coun Mohammed Iqbal said: “The British Legion organises the Remembrance Sunday events, the council and the police just help to facilitate it, but we will pass these comments on.”

if the elements from the different faiths fought or had relatives who fought for this country, then ok they should take part but if its just a pc exercise then stay away from our parade!!! we dont want you..

You would have thought the elements from the different faiths, whether they fought or had relatives who fought or not, would attend the Remembrance Day parade out of respect for the people that created a country where they could emigrate to in the first place!
