A COMMERCIAL drug dealer who had cocaine and ‘bubble’, with a street value of around £7,000, has been jailed for two years.

Norrie Doogan, 46, was found to have mephedrone worth up to £4,100, and cocaine worth £3,704, when police searched a BMW after they were called to his Padiham home.

Officers also discovered weighing scales, mobile phones, and £110 cash.

And when Doogan was booked in at the police station, he was in possession of £3,784, Burnley Crown Court heard.

Doogan, a father-of-two, and said to be a money lender, gave police a ‘fictitious’ account about buying the car from a neighbour, and claimed he knew nothing about the drugs.

When his mobiles phones were analysed, they contained what were said to be drug-related text messages, threatening violence.

The defendant, of Church Street, admitted possessing cocaine and bubble with intent to supply and offering to supply bubble.

He will face a Proceeds of Crime hearing in July.

Stephen Parker, prosecuting, said on July 29, 2010, police went to Doogan’s address and arrested him after reports of a domestic incident.

Officers searched the house and vehicles owned by him, in particular a BMW parked nearby.

DC James North said: “Doogan was hiding a large amount of drugs in his car and I hope it sends out a warning to offenders who think they can hide illegal substances, that they will be targeted, investigated, and brought to justice.

“Tackling drugs, and the misery they cause to our communities, is a key priority for the police, and we will continue to do everything we can to remove them, and those involved in dealing them, from our streets.”
