A SCHOOLBOY was subjected to a violent assault before having his mobile phone stolen.

The 15-year-old was forced to the floor by three men, before being kicked and punched while on the ground.

The incident happened last Friday at around 4.10pm on Brennand Street.

The attackers are described as Asian men, aged between 16 and 18 years old.

Detective Constable Mick Cross, from Burnley CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward and contact the police.

“Fortunately the victim did not receive serious injuries but has been left shaken following his ordeal. The people responsible need to be caught and brought to justice.”

One of the attackers was wearing white traditional clothing with a skull cap, a second in black traditional clothing with a skull cap and the third was dressed in grey shorts and a blue top and had a shaved head.

Police are also keen to speak to two men who came to the assistance of the victim and drove him back home.
