THE fourth attack on fire crews in five days occured last night.
A gang of youths deliberately started a rubbish fire on Home Street, Stoneyholme, at 9.30pm and pelted firefighters and the engine with stones when they arrived to extinguish it.
Nobody was injured and the vehicle was not damaged by the glancing blows of stones.
Firefighters said there will be a meeting between community leaders and rescue services to try to resolve the situation.
