AN organisation working to tackle food poverty served more than half a million meals across Lancashire in its first year.

Recycling Lives, a recycling business which runs charitable activities to tackle food poverty and reduce reoffending, also created a £1.4million saving to society.

In partnership with FareShare, it delivers fresh in-date food that would otherwise be destined for landfill to around 30 community groups across East Lancashire including The Hollin Street Project, which provides specialist support for 10 families in Blackburn, and the Bean Good Coffee Shops in Burnley and Nelson.
