A GROUP of travellers that set up home in Burnley’s Towneley Park have been ordered to leave by Burnley Council.
A dozen caravans pulled onto a council car park close to the Todmorden Road entrance on Monday.
A council spokesman said officers had been to speak to the travellers and a notice to leave had been given to them.

He said: “The travellers said they will be moving on in the next few days to travel to Appleby horse fair.
“We will apply to the court at the earliest opportunity for a possession order to remove the travellers from the site.
“We’re liaising with the police and we will both continue to closely monitor the situation.”
