PALACE House Care Home in Burnley has been told it ‘requires improvement’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

In a report an inspector said the Padiham Road home, which can provide care for up to 33 people, needed to boost its safety, effectiveness and leadership.

However the CQC said staff respected people’s rights to privacy, dignity and independence.

An inspection said: “People living in the home told us they did not have any concerns about the way they were cared for.

“They told us they felt safe in the home.

“Training had not been provided to help staff deal with first aid emergencies.

“Personal emergency evacuation plans (PEEPS) were not recorded.

“PEEPs would provide staff with clear guidance on how to support people to evacuate the premises in the event of an emergency.

“This placed people at risk of an inappropriate response in an emergency."

However the CQC said people were happy with their bedrooms.
