A TEENAGE cyclist was taken to hospital after being hit by a van on a busy Burnley main road.

The crash, involving a Peugeot Bipper and and the 16-year-old male cyclist, happened in Rossendale Road at 11.15am on Sunday.

Police said the teenager was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with cuts to the face and injuries to both legs. Police did not say how serious the injuries are.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

A road closure was put in place for several hours whilst the teenager was treated and investigation work was carried out.

A police spokesman said: "We were called by the ambulance service to reports of a road traffic collision in Rossendale Road, Burnley, at 11.15am on November 20.

"The collision involved a Peugeot Bipper and a 16-year-old male cyclist.

"The cyclist was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment on face and leg injuries."
