A ROSSENDALE man brandished a machete at police during a domestic disturbance, a court heard.
Police were called to the home of Sheila Aldis in Townsend Fold by her son Philip Barrow, Burnley magistrates were told.
Officers were told Barrow had a machete and they saw him standing at the top of the stairs, hitting a bannister with the weapon.
Magistrates heard one officer drew a Taser and ordered him to drop the machete. He disappeared briefly but returned and agreed to come downstairs.
The court was told Barrow continued to present problems, threatening to bite someone within the police custody suite at Blackburn.
Barrow, of Cherry Crescent, admitted to an affray charge relating to the November 16 incident.
He was given a 12-month community order, with 25 days of rehabilitation activities to be completed.
Magistrates heard the defendant’s mother still supported him and would not back his prosecution.
