THE annual bonfire and fireworks display at Towneley Park has been hailed a ‘huge success’ by Burnley Council.

The event was staged for another year in the town with officials stating that more people attended than 12 months ago.

The night also included a funfair followed by a junior fireworks display.

A spokeswoman for Burnley Council, said: “The event was better attended than last year despite the rain.

“It was a great event for all the family and many people came along.

“No incidents were reported.”

The fun kicked off a 6.15pm when the fair opened with the junior fireworks display starting at 7.15pm.

The main fireworks display wowed crowds from 8.15pm.

For safety reasons, the public were not allowed to bring in their own sparklers and fireworks.
