TWO men armed with a metal bar walked into a Burnley convenience store and attacked a shop assistant.
The incident happened at the the Top Shop Convenience Store in Thurston Street at around 10am on Thursday.
It is alleged that two men had an altercation with the shop assistant and swung the metal bar at the counter.
The shop assistant is said to have suffered an injured hand in the attack.
The men then left the shop, slamming the door and damaging the front window in the process.
They then escaped in a vehicle.
A Lancashire Police spokeswoman said: “We were called at around 10am on Thursday to reports that two men armed with metal bars had entered a shop on Thurston Street, causing damage to the store and striking the shop assistant to the hand.”
Police arrested a 34-year-old Brierfield man on suspicion of a public order offence and criminal damage later the same day. He has now been charged with the two offences and will appear at Burnley Magistrates Court on November 17.
Police are still trying to find the second man.
Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101.
