A BY-election date for the seat of a former Burnley mayor who died has been announced by town hall officials.
Candidates are being sought for the borough’s Trinity ward following the death of ex-policeman Coun Tony Lambert in June after a lengthy battle with throat cancer.
The by-election will take place on Thursday, September 13, and nominations must be received by election officials before next Thursday, August 16.
Postal voting applications must be received by Wednesday, August 29.
Proxy applications must be received before Wednesday, September 5.
On Burnley Council, Labour currently has an 11-seat advantage over the Liberal Democrats, on 14, with the Conservatives holding five seats.
