HORROR fans are in for a treat when a new scare attraction opens on a farm in October.

A ten acre site at Hawkshaw Farm Park, in Clayton-le-Dale, is to be converted into a “thrilling family venue.

The project, called Scare Kingdom Scream Park, is the brainchild of TV presenter Jason Karl, who has worked on Living TV’s Most Haunted and ITV’s Haunted Halloween Live.

His firm, AtmosFEAR! Scare Attractions, has teamed up with the farm’s owners, Eric and Amanda Dowson, to create the attraction.

Mr Karl, who is also the creative producer at Atmos-FEAR!, said: “With Scare Kingdom we are creating a brand which can evolve and develop year on year.

“There is an increased interest in this kind of entertainment format and, with the credit crunch, people will be looking for something unusual, fun and relatively inex-pensive to do over Hallowe’en.”

The park, which is in the advanced stages of planning and will open in time for Hallowe’en 2009, will house three different attractions with a horror theme suitable for all ages.

All the attractions will feature professional actors, as well as special effects, sounds and lighting effects.

Hawkshaw Farm Park held a smaller event last year called Hex in the Harvest.

That event was originally meant to take place in the summer and had people walking through a maze in the dark, but heavy rain meant the maize crop took longer to grow to full height than normal so it was decided to stage it around Hallowe’en instead.

Mrs Dowson said: “Last year was so well received by the thousands of guests that we wanted to do something even bigger and offer something which caters for all age groups.

“This year we have attractions for toddlers, families and for those seeking an extreme scream experience.”

Scare Kingdom Scream Park opens nightly from Thursday October 22.
