AN MP has backed government plans to change animal welfare laws.
Rossendale and Darwen MP Jake Berry took to Facebook to show his support for proposed changes to animal welfare laws which will see prison sentences for animal abusers increased from six months to five years.
He said: "I don't think that the EU's laws on animal welfare go far enough.
"Which is why I'm supporting our plans to make sure all animal sentience is recognised in UK law as well as other measures to improve animal welfare."
